Submission Guideline

Submission Period and Response Times

We accept submissions year-round. While we will accept submissions from anywhere in the world, they must be written in English.

All submissions must be accompanied by a brief (50 words or less) biography of the author.

Please submit only one item at a time and wait for a response before sending another unless requested.

Word count limit: no minimum, max 10,000.

Send double-spaced submissions to the appropriate email as listed below. If your work is going to appear, you’ll hear from us prior to publication. Christian Magazine will make every effort to respond to you within 6 months of submission.

Please note that all submitted pieces must be previously unpublished. Simultaneous submissions accepted if notified promptly that work is accepted elsewhere.

Launch Issue Deadline

The deadline for consideration to be published into the launch issue has been changed to 12am on March 15, 2015. We anticipate release of the first issue sometime in the second quarter of this year in digital format (Apple Newstand, etc).

In general we want worldwide first publishing rights with two month exclusivity. So if your piece runs in Christian Magazine then for two months it cannot be up anywhere else online. After that two month exclusive period, you can republish the story elsewhere to publications that accept previously published work. You retain all copyright to your work.

Fiction Submission Guidelines

Writers wishing to submit fiction to Christian Magazine are invited to send queries to

Christian Magazine is seeking good honest fiction in the form of short stories. We look for stories that convey a sense of any combination of the following:

1. Emotional conflict

2. Spirituality

3. Faith

4. Honesty

5. Finding one’s way to God/Jesus Christ

6. Maintaining or strengthening one’s beliefs

Remember that a strong, believable and emotional connection to the characters in your story is extremely important. If submitting a genre story please do not forget to keep faith and God/Jesus Christ as an integral part of your story development or resolution.

Articles should be submitted in one of the following formats: .doc, .docx, .rtf or .txt files.

Nonfiction Submission Guidelines

Writers wishing to submit non-fiction to Christian Magazine are invited to send queries to

We are looking for articles that reflect the strength of one’s faith, one’s personal journey, analysis of news and how it tests one’s faith, personal testimony, Christian book, concert, movie/film, and band/music reviews, interviews with prominent Christians, religious and lay leaders as well as articles on different congregations. Articles on history, holidays, science etc. are also welcome providing they have a Christian focus.

Interview/Profile Information

While we publish interviews with innovative and provocative thinkers we are not looking for nor will we consider anything that deals with hatred.

We like interviews and profiles that challenge us intellectually yet remain accessible and are always looking for voices not normally heard in the mass media. Interviews often fail because the interviewer assumes the reader is familiar with the interviewee’s work or does not ask stimulating/challenging questions. Your interview/profile should resonate with an uninformed audience.

If the interview or profile is accepted, we will ask you for an introduction of approximately one to two hundred words. Include a description of the interviewee and the setting where the interview took place. You may want to ask some biographical questions to obtain material for the introduction. Some facts to be sure to include are age, place of residence, degrees, and publications. We would also like a photograph of the interviewee, complete contact information, including an e-mail address and phone number.

Other information we also will consider editorial and regular column ideas.

Please be sure to send us sufficient information so that we can fact check if necessary.

In general, if you have an idea for an article or series that you feel might be a good fit for Christian Magazine then please feel free to pitch it to us and we will let you know.

Articles should be submitted in one of the following formats: .doc, .docx, .rtf or .txt files.

Art, Illustration, Music, Video, and Photography Submission Guidelines

We are interested in creative artistic ability of all kinds.

Artists, Illustrators, Musicians, Videographers and Photographers wishing to submit creative items (herein after referred to as “creative artistic submission(s)”) to Christian Magazine are invited to send queries to

When submitting images please be certain that you have model and other releases available and when necessary the appropriate team credits such as model names, hair, make-up, stylist and wardrobe artists, etc. If you are using a professional model please make sure the agency name is supplied as well.

We also would like links to your own website if you have one so that we can promote your own work that way.

Please do NOT use Dropbox, WeTransfer, YouSendIt or any other file-sharing websites unless we specifically ask you to do so.

Artists, illustrators, and photographers may send creative artistic submissions for consideration at any time, in any of the following digital formats: pdf, jpg, jpeg, tiff, png. Image/graphic sizes must be size “A4” for print – 300 dpi and a resolution of 2480 x 3508 pixels.

Maximum file size: 5MB. If you are submitting digital images, you may send high-resolution images (300 dpi) electronically.

Musicians and videographers – please contact us before sending us your submissions. We only accept original works of music, not covers. This is for your protection as well. Music videos may be posted on YouTube, MySpace, GodTube and other sites after the two month exclusivity period is finished.

Photographers – While we are not specifically looking for photojournalism (unless it is accompanying an article,) we are more interested in new and unique perspectives on Christianity in the world around us. Photo essays dealing with topics and how they relate to Christianity are of particular interest to us. If in doubt please query us first.

We ask that you limit any individual artistic submissions to no more than 50 images for ease of review.

When we accept a creative artistic submission, we will notify you and keep the work on file until we find a place for it in an issue of magazine. Any other items submitted at the same time that are not accepted (and that is in no way to be intended as a criticism of your work) are then released back to you to do with as you wish.
